L to R: Nick Gray and Left Front Tire members Brent R, Brent D, Chip, & Josh.

Left Front Tire, a punk-pop band from tiny Habersham County, Georgia, makes their national debut this July 31st on the American Pie 2 Soundtrack with their song "Bring You Down." I had a chance to sit down with the guys after a concert in Atlanta to talk about small town success, their anticipations, and the ingredients to the band's secret cookie recipe.

There are some pretty big bands featured along with you guys on this soundtrack- Blink 182, Green Day, 3 Doors Down... How does it feel to be up there with such names?
Brent R: We're very, very honored.
Chip: It's amazing. We're from a really, really small town in North Georgia. For this to be happening to us... I don't think you can believe how small a town we come from.
So for us, this is really great.

How exactly did you go about getting on the soundtrack?
Brent R:  Universal contacted us two months ago about the soundtrack. They had heard the single and thought it would fit in well with the movie.
Chip: We had already recorded our song Bring You Down, so I went up to New York to re-mix it for the soundtrack. I was only up there for about 12 hours and we had it set.

The soundtrack is probably going to expose you guys to a lot of new areas, and I'm sure you've planned ahead for what will probably be your biggest problem: Hot groupies. How do you plan to deal with this?
Brent R:  One at a time, one at a time.
(all)  laughing, Josh throws a towel at Brent
Chip:  No, no. See, one thing is that we've been together as a band for eight and a half years now. We're kind of used to getting built up and then getting let back down, so we don't let ourselves really get built up anymore. When something does happen, it's always a bonus.
Brent R: It's always a surprise.
Chip: Like this soundtrack, they told us there was a chance we'd get it and a chance we wouldn't. And when we got it, you know, it's awesome. But you learn to deal with everything.
Josh: It's a very humbling business. We're having a great time now, but Monday it's back to work for all of us.

Now, I've been told that you guys have a secret cookie recipe within the band. Can I tell my visitors about Josh's cookies?
Josh: It's, you know, it's a recipe we've been making since we were little kids. It's easy, it's quick... Yeah, we all still eat them today.
Brent: They're called cookies, but it's really more like a soufflé.  You can let them harden, but they're much better hot with a spoon.
